Paris born Lea Stein began designing and making plastic jewellery in the 1960's and started her own company after her husband Fernand Steinberger discovered a new method of laminating celluloid. She continued making jewellery until 1981 when the company ceased trading. She started producing jewellery again in 1988 and has done so ever since. She produces new designs each year.

Virtually every piece of Lea Stein jewellery is signed "Lea Stein - Paris" on a distinctive 'V' shaped pin. Some older, smaller pieces have a small flat pin which is signed "Lea Stein". Bracelets, bangles, hair pins etc. are usually heat-stamped "Lea Stein - Paris". Earrings are seldom signed.

Please email me if you have a question about any piece, or if you would like us to try and find you a particular design or colour. We specialise in the vintage pieces.

If you are just starting to collect Lea Stein, Judith Just's book "Lea Stein Jewelry" is a superb hard-back reference for Lea Stein's work.

Also Leigh Leshner's "Collecting Art Plastic Jewelry" features both Stein and Pavone along with many other artists.
